Annoying questions about India....

Annoying questions about India....

For the next time you get asked an annoying question
about India...

Q. What does that red dot on women's forehead mean?
A. Well, in ancient times, Indian men used to practice
archery skills by target practicing by aiming at their
wife's red dot. In fact, that is one of the reasons
why they had many wives. You see, once they
mastered the art of archery and hit the target....

Q. You're from India, aren't you? I have read so much
about the
country. All those wonderful places, the forests, the
snake charmers,
the elephants! Do you still use elephants for
transportation?
A. Absolutely. In fact we used to have our own
elephant in our house.
But later, we started elephant pooling with our
neighbours, to save
the air. You see elephants have an "emission"
problem...

Q. Does India have cars?
A. No. We ride elephants to work. (Refer to response
to earlier question).

Q. Does India have TV?
A. No. We only have cable.

Q. Are all Indians vegetarian?
A. Yes. Even tigers in India are vegetarian.

Q. How come you speak English so well?
A. You see when the British were ruling India, they
employed Indians
as servants. It took too long for the Indians to learn
English. So the
British isolated an "English-language" gene and
infused their
servants' babies with it and since then all babies
born are born
speaking English.

A variation to the above is a compliment --- "You
speak very good English."
Response: Thanks. So do you.

Q. Are you a Hindi?
A. Yes. I am spoken everyday in Northern India.

Q. Do you speak Hindu?
A. Yes, I also speak Jewish, Islam and Christianity.

Q. Is it true that everyone there is very corrupt?
A. Yes, in fact, I had to bribe my parents so that
they would let me
go to school.

Q. India is very hot, isn't it?
A. It is so hot there that all the water boils
spontaneously. That is
why tea is such a popular drink in India.

Q. Are there any business companies in India?
A. No. All Indians live on the Gandhian principles of self-sufficiency. We all make our own cloth.

Good Morale..

Good Morale..
A boy was born to a couple after eleven years of marriage. They were a loving couple and the boy was the gem of their eyes. When the boy was around two years old, one morning the husband saw a medicine bottle open. He was late for office so he asked his wife to cap the bottle and keep it in the cupboard. His wife, preoccupied in the kitchen totally forgot the matter.
The boy saw the bottle and playfully went to the bottle fascinated by its color and drank it all. It happened to be a poisonous medicine meant for adults in small dosages. When the child collapsed the mother hurried him to the hospital, where he died. The mother was stunned. She was terrified how to face her husband.
When the distraught father came to the hospital and saw the dead child, he looked at his wife and uttered just five words.

The husband just said "I am with you Darling"

The husband's totally unexpected reaction is a proactive behavior. The child is dead. He can never be brought back to life. There is no point in finding fault with the mother. Besides, if only he had taken time to keep the bottle away, this would not have happened.
No one is to be blamed. She had also lost her only child. What she needed at that moment was consolation and sympathy from the husband. That is what he gave her.
If everyone can look at life with this kind of perspective, there would be much fewer problems in the world. "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." Take off all your envies, jealousies, unforgiveness, selfishness, and fears. And you will find things are actually not as difficult as you think.

MORAL OF THE STORY
Sometimes we spend time in asking who is responsible or whom to blame, whether in a relationship, in a job or with the people we know. By this way we miss out some warmth in human relationship.

IMPORTANCE OF FRUITS

Eat Fresh Fruits
We all think eating fruits means
simply buying fruit, cutting it and
just popping it into our mouths.

You will benefit much more
if you know how and when to eat.
____________ ________
Correct Way of Eating Fruits
Fruits should be taken
in an empty stomach…
not as dessert after the meal
as is often done.

If you eat fruit like that, it will also serve
a major role to detoxify your system, supplying you with a great deal of energy
for weight loss and other life activities.
 ____________ ________

Fruit is the Most Important Food
Let's say you eat two slices of bread
and then a slice of fruit.

As fruit digests faster than bread,
the slice of fruit digests quickly
and is ready to go straight through
the stomach into the intestines,
but its passage is blocked by the bread which takes longer to digest…
  ____________ ________
…In the meantime the whole meal ferments and turns to acid.
Consequently, when the fruit comes
into contact with the food
in the stomach and digestive juices,
the entire mass of food begins
to spoil.

So it is better to eat your fruits in an empty stomach or
before your meals !
 ____________ _______

You have heard people complaining –
every time I eat water-melon I burp,
when I eat durian my stomach bloats up,
when I eat banana
I feel like running to the toilet etc –

actually all this will not arise if you eat
the fruit in an empty stomach.
The fruit mixes with the putrefying other food and produces gas and hence you will bloat !
 ____________ ________

Graying hair, balding, nervous outburst,
dark circles under the eyes
all these will not happen if
you take fruits in an empty stomach.

It is incorrectly presumed that some fruits
like orange and lemon are acidic and will enhance acidity in the stomach.
Research however shows
that all fruits become alkaline
in our body.
____________ ________

When you need to drink fruit juice –
drink only fresh fruit juice,
NOT from the cans.
Don't drink juice that has been heated up.
Don't eat cooked fruits because
you don't get the nutrients at all.
You only get to taste.
So stop making 'durian porridge'
if you want nutrients.
Cooking fruit destroys all the vitamins.
  ____________ ________

Eating the pulp or whole fruit
is far better than drinking the juice
as the fibre is good for you.
If you should drink the juice,
drink it mouthful by mouthful slowly,
because you must let it mix
with your saliva before swallowing it.
  ____________ ________

A 3-day "fruit fast" is
a very simple and effective way
to cleanse  and de-toxify your body.
Just eat fruits and drink fruit juice throughout the 3 days and
you will be surprised when your friends
tell you how radiant you look !
During the "fruit fast" you can eat different fruits at different times, although occasionally mixed fruit salad would
also be   permissible and  more interesting.
  ____________ ________

If you have mastered
the correct way of eating fruits,
you have the secret of beauty,
longevity, health, energy,
happiness and normal weight.
So eat fresh fruits and always keep smilingggggggggg

Indian Constitution 49-0 Rule .

Indian Constitution 49-0 Rule .

Did you know that there is a system in our constitution, as per the 1969 act, in section " 49-O " that a person can go to the polling booth, confirm his identity, get his finger marked, and convey the presiding election officer that he / she doesn't want to vote anyone !

Yes, such a feature is available, but obviously these seemingly notorious leaders have never disclosed it. This is called " 49-O ".

Why should you go and say "I VOTE NOBODY " ? ... Because, in a ward, if a candidate wins, say by 123 votes, and that particular ward has received " 49-O" votes more than 123 , then that polling will be cancelled and will have to be re-polled. Not only that, but the candidature of the contestants will be removed and they cannot contest the re-polling, since people had already expressed their decision on them.

This would bring fear into parties and hence look for genuine candidates for their parties for election. This would change the way, of our whole political system... it is seemingly surprising why the election commission has not revealed such a feature to the public.... Please spread this news to as many as you know... Seems to be a wonderful weapon against corrupt parties in India... show your power, expressing your desire    not to vote for anybody, is even more powerful than voting... so don't miss your chance.

So either vote, or vote not to vote (vote "49-O ") and pass on this info...

Please forward this to as many as possible, so that we, the People of India, can really use this power to save our nation.

LIFE SAVING -STROKE

STROKE: Remember The 1st Three Letters... S.T.R.
My friend sent this to me and encouraged me to post it and spread the word. I agree.  If everyone can remember something this simple, we could save some folks.

STROKE IDENTIFICATION:
During a BBQ, a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine and just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes.   (they offered to call ambulance)

They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food - while she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening. Ingrid's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00pm , Ingrid passed away.)
She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be with us today.

Some don't die. They end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead. It only takes a minute to read this...

STROKE IDENTIFICATION:

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke...totally.   He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.

RECOGNIZING A STROKE

Remember the "3" steps, STR .     Read and Learn!
Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify.    Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster.
The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.
Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:

S * Ask the individual to SMILE .
T * = TALK. Ask the person to SPEAK A SIMPLE   SENTENCE (Coherently) (eg "It is sunny out today").
R * Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS .

If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call the ambulance and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

NOTE : Another 'sign' of a stroke is
1.   Ask the person to 'stick' out their tongue.
2.   If the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other that is also an indication of a stroke.

A prominent cardiologist says if everyone who gets this e-mail sends it to 10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved.

Marriage

Marriage

Before marriage....

He: Yes. At last. It was so hard to wait.
She: Do you want me to leave?
He: No! Don't even think about it.
She: Do you love me?
He: Of course! Over and over!
She: Have you ever cheated on me?
He: No! Why are you even asking?
She: Will you kiss me?
He: Every chance I get.
She: Will you hit me?
He: Are you crazy! I'm not that kind of person!
She: Can I trust you?
He: Yes.
She: Darling!

After marriage....

When you thought I wasn't looking,

A message every parent should read,
because your children are watching you
and doing as you do, not as you say...
"When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw you hang my first painting on the refrigerator,
and I immediately wanted to paint another one.
When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw you feed a stray cat,
and I learned that it was good to be kind to animals.
When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw you make my favorite cake for me
and I learned that little things can be the special things in life.
When you thought I wasn't looking,
I heard you say a prayer,
and I knew there is a God I could always talk to and I learned to trust in God.
When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw you make a meal and take it to a friend who was sick,
and I learned that we all have to help take care of each other.
When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw you give of your time and money to help people who had nothing
and I learned that those who have something should give to those who don't.
When you thought I wasn't looking,
I felt you kiss me good night and
I felt loved and safe.
When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw you take care of our house and everyone in it
and I learned we have to take care of what we are given.
When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw how you handled your responsibilities, even when you didn't feel good
and I learned that I would have to be responsible when I grow up.
When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw tears come from your eyes
and I learned that sometimes things hurt, but it's all right to cry.
When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw that you cared
and I wanted to be everything that I could be.
When you thought I wasn't looking,
I learned most of life's lessons that I need to know to be a good and productive person when I grow up.
When you thought I wasn't looking,
I looked at you and wanted to say,
Thanks for all the things I saw when you thought I wasn't looking.'"

I believe

I believe in the supreme worth of the individual and in his right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
I believe that every right implies a responsibility: every opportunity, an obligation: every possession, a duty.
I believe that the law was made for man and not man made for the law; that government is the servant of the people and not their master.
I believe in the dignity of labour, whether with head or hand; that the world owes no man a living but that it offers every man an opportunity to make a living.
I believe that thrift is essential to well-ordered living and that economy is a prime requisite of a sound financial structure, whether in government, business, or personal affairs.
I believe that truth and justice are fundamental to an enduring social order. I believe in the sacredness of a promise, that character  - not wealth or power or position  - is of supreme worth.
I believe that rendering of useful service is the common duty of humankind and that only in the purifying fire of sacrifice is the dross of selfishness consumed and the greatness of the human soul set free.
I believe in an all - wise and all loving God, named by whatever name, and that the individual's highest fulfillment, greatness, happiness and widest usefulness are to be found in living in harmony with His will.
I believe that love is the greatest thing in the world: that it alone can overcome hate; that right can and will triumph might.

I Can Make It Happen

History abounds with tales of experts who were convinced that the ideas, plans, and projects of others could never be achieved. However, accomplishment came to those who said, "I can make it happen."
The Italian sculptor Agostino d'Antonio worked diligently on a large piece of marble. Unable to produce his desired masterpiece, he lamented, "I can do nothing with it." Other sculptors also worked this difficult piece of marble, but to no avail. Michelangelo discovered the stone and visualized the possibilities in it. His "I-can-make-it-happen" attitude resulted in one of the world's masterpieces - David.
The experts of Spain concluded that Columbus's plans to discover a new and shorter route to the West Indies was virtually impossible. Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand ignored the report of the experts. "I can make it happen," Columbus persisted. And he did. Everyone knew the world was flat, but not Columbus. The Nina, the Pinta, the Santa Maria, along with Columbus and his small band of followers, sailed to "impossible" new lands and thriving resources.
Even the great Thomas Alva Edison discouraged his friend, Henry Ford, from pursuing his fledgling idea of a motorcar. Convinced of the worthlessness of the idea, Edison invited Ford to come and work for him. Ford remained committed and tirelessly pursued his dream. Although his first attempt resulted in a vehicle without reverse gear, Henry Ford knew he could make it happen. And, of course, he did.
"Forget it," the experts advised Madame Curie. They agreed radium was a scientifically impossible idea. However, Marie Curie insisted, "I can make it happen."
Let's not forget our friends Orville and Wilbur Wright. Journalists, friends, armed forces specialists, and even their father laughed at the idea of an airplane. "What a silly and insane way to spend money. Leave flying to the birds," they jeered. "Sorry," the Wright brothers responded. "We have a dream, and we can make it happen." As a result, a place called Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, became the setting for the launching of their "ridiculous" idea.
Finally, as you read these accounts under the magnificent lighting of your environment, consider the plight of Benjamin Franklin. He was admonished to stop the foolish experimenting with lighting. What an absurdity and waste of time! Why, nothing could outdo the fabulous oil lamp. Thank goodness Franklin knew he could make it happen. You too can make it happen!

The Cookie Thief

A woman was waiting at an airport one night,
With several long hours before her flight.
She hunted for a book in the airport shop,
Bought a bag of cookies and found a place to drop.

She was engrossed in her book, but happened to see,
That the man beside her, as bold as could be,
Grabbed a cookie or two from the bag between,
Which she tried to ignore, to avoid a scene.

She read, munched cookies, and watched the clock,
As the gutsy "cookie thief" diminished her stock.
She was getting more irritated as the minutes ticked by,
Thinking, "If I wasn't so nice, I'd blacken his eye!"

With each cookie she took, he took one too.
When only one was left, she wondered what he'd do.
With a smile on his face and a nervous laugh,
He took the last cookie and broke it in half.

He offered her half, as he ate the other.
She snatched it from him and thought, "Oh brother,
This guy has some nerve, and he's also rude,
Why, he didn't even show any gratitude!"

She had never known when she has been so galled,
And sighed with relief when her flight was called.
She gathered her belongings and headed for the gate,
Refusing to look back at the "thieving ingrate."

She boarded the plane and sank in her seat,
Then sought her book, which was almost complete.
As she reached in her baggage, she gasped with surprise:
There was her bag of cookies in front of her eyes!

"If mine are here," she moaned with despair,
"Then the others were his and he tried to share!"
Too late to apologize, she realized with grief,
That she was the rude one, the ingrate, the thief!

The Rules For Being Human

When you were born, you didn't come with an owner's manual; these guidelines make life work better.
1. You will receive a body. You may like it or hate it, but it's the only thing you are sure to keep for the rest of your life.
2. You will learn lessons. You are enrolled in a full-time informal school called "Life on Planet Earth". Every person or incident is the Universal Teacher.
3. There are no mistakes, only lessons. Growth is a process of experimentation. "Failures" are as much a part of the process as "success."
4. A lesson is repeated until learned. It is presented to you in various forms until you learn it -- then you can go on to the next lesson.
5. If you don't learn easy lessons, they get harder. External problems are a precise reflection of your internal state. When you clear inner obstructions, your outside world changes. Pain is how the universe gets your attention.
6. You will know you've learned a lesson when your actions change. Wisdom is practice. A little of something is better than a lot of nothing.
7. "There" is no better than "here". When your "there" becomes a "here" you will simply obtain another "there" that again looks better than "here."
8. Others are only mirrors of you. You cannot love or hate something about another unless it reflects something you love or hate in yourself.
9. Your life is up to you. Life provides the canvas; you do the painting. Take charge of your life --or someone else will.
10. You always get what you want. Your subconscious rightfully determines what energies, experiences, and people you attract -- therefore, the only foolproof way to know what you want is to see what you have. There are no victims, only students.
11. There is no right or wrong, but there are consequences. Moralizing doesn't help. Judgments only hold the patterns in place. Just do your best.
12. Your answers lie inside you. Children need guidance from others; as we mature, we trust our hearts, where the Laws of Spirit are written. You know more than you have heard or read or been told. All you need to do is to look, listen, and trust.
13. You will forget all this.
14. You can remember any time you wish.

The Archer and the Arrow

There was once a general of war who had spent his entire life fighting in campaigns for many kings. Now at the end of his career, he became tired of fighting. He had spent a lifetime perfecting his skill in all the arts of war and his skill was famous, but he was weary and had but one wish: to spend the rest of his days studying archery, the one art of war he had not mastered.
The general did not want to learn archery in order to be a better fighter, but rather to study and reflect. He had heard of Master archers, living in distant monasteries, who spend a lifetime doing nothing else but perfecting their skill. Their life appealed to him, and so he retired from fighting and began to search for the Master archers.
After a long journey the general found a monastery where the monks were devoted to archery. He entered the monastery and begged to join them and pass the remainder of his days on this earth studying archery. For 10 years that is what he did.
Then, when he had perfected his skill as an archer, the abbot of the monastery came to the general and said, "It is time to leave." The general was shocked and he protested, saying that his life in the world outside the monastery was over. His only desire was to remain within the monastery walls and continue to meditate on the bow, the arrow, the target.
The general argued and pleaded with the abbot, but the abbot was resolute. He insisted that the general must leave. To advance his skill, it was necessary for the general to go out into the world and teach what he had learned.
And so he left the monastery. Once outside, the general had nowhere to go; he decided to return to the village of his birth.
It was a long journey over many lands, but finally he neared the village. As he walked through the surrounding forest he noticed a bull's-eye on a tree, with an arrow in the exact center. The general was surprised by this and even more so when he noticed more trees with bull's-eyes and arrows in the center.
Soon he came to the farmlands and there saw many barns and homes with bull's-eyes and arrows dead center. He became agitated and walked quickly into the village center. There, on every wall of every building was a bull's-eye with an arrow right in the center.
The peace he had gained from his years of monastic life was gone. He was indignant to find that after 10 years of study and reflection there lived an archer more skilled that he. Quickly, he approached the elders of the town and demanded that the archer responsible for this perfection meet him at the edge of town by the mill, in one hour.
The general waited by the mill, but as the hour approached no one came. There was, however, a young girl playing by the river. The girl noticed him and came over.
"Are you waiting for someone?" she asked, looking up at the general.
"Go away," he said, irritated.
"No, no," said the girl, "you look like you're waiting for someone and I was told to come and meet someone here."
The general looked unbelievingly at the little girl and said, "I'm waiting for the Master archer responsible for the hundreds of perfect shots I have seen.
"Well, that's me then," said the girl.
The general, feeling more indignant still, looked skeptically at the girl. Finally, he said, "If you are telling the truth, then explain to me how you can get a perfect shot every single time you shoot your arrow."
"That's easy," said the girl, brightening. "I take my arrow and I draw it back very tight in the bow. Then I point it very, very straight and let it go. Wherever it lands I draw a bull's-eye.

Three Wishers

Three members of an investment bank: a secretary, an associate and a manager are walking through a park on their way to lunch when they discover an ancient oil lamp. They rub it and a genie comes out in a huge puff of grey-blue smoke.

The genie says, "I usually grant only three wishes, so I'll give each of you just one."
"Me first! Me first!" says the secretary. "I want to be in the Bahamas, driving a speedboat, without a care in the world!"
Poof! She's gone.

In absolute astonishment the associate shouts, "Me next! Me next! I want to be in Hawaii, relaxing on the beach with my personal masseur, an endless supply of goodies and the love of my life."
Poof! He's gone.

"You're next," says the genie to the manager.

The Manager calmly says, "I want those two back in office after lunch.

Take A Child By The ..

Take A Child By The ..
Take a child by the hand,
and show him the way,
Lead a child each morning,
into a beautiful day.

Take a child by the mind,
and give him the strength,
To fight every challenge,
and go to great lengths.

Take a child by the soul,
and let God be known,
It is by his mighty grace,
that so big they have grown.

Take a child by his sight,
and show him wonders galore,
Teach him curiosity,
and the need to explore.

Take a child by his smile,
so beautiful and sweet,
And tell him of all,
the friends he will meet.

Take a child by his wonder,
of the life all around,
Let him savor each flavor,
and hear each new sound.

Take a child by his dreams,
and say it's all-right,
To follow those dreams,
as far as he might.

Take a child by the heart,
and teach them to love,
For there is no greater gift,
from our creator above,

And after your child has grown,
and alone they now stand,
Watch and enjoy as they take,
their children by the hand.

The Secret of Life

An eight-year-old boy approached an old man in front of a wishing well, looked up into his eyes, and said: "I understand you're a very wise man. I'd like to know the secret of life."
The old man looked down at the youngster and replied: "I've thought a lot in my lifetime, and the secret can be summed up in four words.
The first is think.
Think about the values you wish to live your life by.
The second is believe.
Believe in yourself based on the thinking you've done about the values you're going to live your life by.
The third is dream.
Dream about the things that can be, based on your belief in yourself and the values you're going to live by.
The last is dare.
Dare to make your dreams become reality, based on your belief in yourself and your values."
And with that, Walter E. Disney said to the little boy,
Think, Believe, Dream, and Dare.

THE TREASURE

The Treasure

The cheerful girl with bouncy golden curls was almost five.  Waiting with her mother at the checkout stand, she saw them: a circle of glistening white pearls in a pink foil box.

"Oh please, Mommy...  Can I have them?  Please, Mommy, please!" Quickly the mother checked the back of the little foil box and then looked back into the pleading blue eyes of her little girl's upturned face.

"A dollar ninety-five. That's almost $2.00 If you really want them, I'll think of some extra chores for you and in no time you can save enough money to buy them for yourself. Your birthday's only a week away and you might get another crisp dollar bill from Grandma."

As soon as Jenny got home, she emptied her penny bank and counted out 17 pennies. After dinner, she did more than her share of chores and she went to
the neighbor and asked Mrs. McJames if she could pick dandelions for ten cents. On her birthday, Grandma did give her another new dollar bill and at last she had enough money to buy the necklace.

Jenny loved her pearls. They made her feel dressed up and grown up. She wore
them everywhere - Sunday school, kindergarten, even to bed.  The only time she
took them off was when she went swimming or had a bubble bath. Mother said if she got them wet, they would make her neck turn green.

Jenny had a very loving daddy and every night when she was ready for bed, he would stop whatever he was doing and come upstairs to read her a story. One night when he finished the story, he asked Jenny, "Do you love me?"

"Oh yes, Daddy. You know that I love you."

"Then give me your pearls."

"Oh, Daddy, not my pearls.  But you can have Princess - the white horse from my
collection. The one with the pink tail.  Remember, Daddy?  The one you gave
me.  She's my favorite."

"That's okay, Honey.  Daddy loves you.  Good night."  And he brushed her cheek
with a kiss.

About a week later, after the story time, Jenny's daddy asked again, "Do you
love me?"

"Daddy, you know I love you."

"Then give me your pearls."

"Oh Daddy, not my pearls.  But you can have my baby doll.  The brand new one I
got for my birthday.  She is so beautiful and you can have the yellow blanket
that matches her sleeper."

"That's okay. Sleep well. God bless you, little one. Daddy loves you."  And as always, he brushed her cheek with a gentle kiss.

A few nights later when her daddy came in, Jenny was sitting on her bed with
her legs crossed Indian style.  As he came close, he noticed her chin was
trembling and one silent tear rolled down her cheek.

"What is it, Jenny?  What's the matter?"

Jenny didn't say anything but lifted her little hand up to her daddy.  She held a box, and when she opened it, there was her little pearl necklace.  With a little
quiver, she finally said, "Here, Daddy. It's for you."

With tears gathering in his own eyes, Jenny's kind daddy reached out with one hand to take the dime-store necklace, and with the other hand he reached into his pocket and pulled out a blue velvet case with a strand of genuine pearls and gave them to Jenny.  He had had them all the time. He was just waiting for her to give
up the dime store stuff so he could give her genuine treasure...

Makes one wonder, "What are we hanging on to?"

DONT TELL ME WAT TO DO

Don't Tell Me What To Do!
"Don't tell me what to do!" We've heard that said many times... we've even said it, and at times when we didn't say it, we thought it! "Don't bug me! Don't get on my case! Don't tell me what to do!" Sounds like a teenager speaking... ah! but it is! It's that inner teenager that most of us still carry around inside.
That teenager has had enough of being bossed around... being told what, when, where, how, and why to do things. Never having any say in the matter... or if he/she did have some say, was it listened to? Mostly not.
So that teenager still resides inside many of us. Mine pops up when it's time to exercise. (It's not a four-letter-word, but I swear my inner-teenager thinks so.) I sat myself down (along with my inner teenager), to get to the root of this attitude. The "I don't want to exercise" attitude.
What I asked myself was "why don't you want to exercise?" "Dunno." (Sounds like a teenager response, doesn't it?) So what came to me was that it wasn't so much the exercise that "I" was resisting (after all, we all know that exercise, especially once we're out of our teens, is a needed attribute to staying healthy, fit, and full of vitality).
So, what was I resisting? Ah! It was the being told that I "had to" exercise. Who was telling me? Not my doctor, though I'm sure if I went to see one, I might get that advice. Not my husband, though, he also is aware of the benefits of exercise. So who then? ME! I was the one telling myself to exercise. Logical, right? Yes, except that my "inner teenager" was resisting having me (the adult "me") telling her what to do.
So how to get out of this dilemma? Definitely by sitting down and talking to "her" and finding out what type of activity (notice I did not call it exercise, since she considers that a "dirty word") she would like. So we came us with a list of things that are fun to do: walking, jumping on the trampoline, riding a bike, playing tennis, etc.
I then gave "her" (we're still talking about my inner teenager) a choice... My thought was that perhaps by offering her a choice between various types of exercises (oops, activities) to do each day, she would be willing to participate (or at least to let the adult "me" participate).
So we made a deal. Every morning I let her choose which type of "activity" she would like to partake in that morning. Now, I must admit that she's still "testing" me. There's still quite a few mornings that she says she doesn't want to do any "activities". OK, I'm giving her some space on this one. I have complete confidence that if I don't impose my will on her, she'll come around... After all, she doesn't want to be living inside an old saggy tired overweight middle-aged woman (who me?) whose main exercise is moving fingers on a computer keyboard...
So, we're still working on that one... some days we exercise, some days we don't. But, we're accepting the fact that we have a choice... And that no one is "forcing us" to do anything. We do what we choose, when we choose, if we choose to.
Another time my teenager rebels is with food! She sometimes trips me when I'm reaching for the lettuce in the store, and "makes me" pick up pastries, cookies, and ice cream instead. Mind you, in this area, we have a better understanding. She is a teenager after all, and is very conscious of her looks and of "looking cool", so in the food area, we have less of a tug-of-war. But even there, I have to "make deals" with her.
We'll agree that cookies and ice cream are ok, but decide on an acceptable amount for both of us. Now, I've noticed that she can be sneaky about this. If I take the whole bag of cookies and say I'll only eat five, before I know it, she's distracted me and eaten the whole bag. After being fooled like this a few times, I now only take out the specified amount of cookies (actually, to make her happy, I take out a couple more than I "should" -- that makes her feel like she's won). I also dish out the ice cream in a small bowl (very small) and fill it so it's spilling over. That way, she feels like she's getting a whole bunch.
Yes, I know, this may seem manipulative to some of you. But after all, this teenager and I reside in the same body, and, since I'm older and wiser (we hope), I do feel that I "know best". (Gee, I hope she didn't hear me say that! Or I'll be bingeing on ice cream for a week!)
So... What's the answer?
The solution is to make friends with your "inner teenager". Become a team! Set goals and agree on how to reach them in a way that is fun and that gives both of you "space" to be who you are. We sometimes treat our inner teenager the same way we were treated as teenagers. Do this! Do that! Don't talk back! Behave! Be still! (Aaaahhh!)
We need to respect our inner teenager, so that she can then learn to respect us. We need to acknowledge her needs, her fears, her emotions, and open up a dialogue with her. Yes, we can talk to our inner teenager. How? Simply sit down, close your eyes, and ask her some questions. Ask her about the areas of your life that aren't "working out". Ask her about why you're having certain difficulties... Ask her if she's upset with you and why... You may be surprised at the answers!

THE TOUCH OF MASTERS HAND

'Twas battered and scarred, and the old auctioneer
Thought it scarcely worth his while
to waste much time on the old violin,
But he still held it up with a smile:
"What am I bidden, good folks," he cried,
"Who'll start the bidding for me?"
"A dollar, a dollar"; then, "Two!" "Only two?
Two dollars, and who'll make it three?
Three dollars, once; three dollars, twice;
going for three ..." but no.

From the room far back, a gray-haired man
Came forward and picked up the bow;
Then, wiping the dust from the old violin,
And tightening the loose strings,
He played a melody pure and sweet
As a caroling angel sings.

The music ceased, and the auctioneer,
With a voice that was quiet and low,
Said; "What am I bidden for the old violin?"
And he held it up with the bow.
"A thousand! And who'll make it two?
Two thousand! And who'll make it three?
Three thousand, once, three thousand, twice,
And going, and gone," said he.

The people cheered, but some of them cried,
"We do not quite understand
What changed it's worth." Swift came the reply:
"The touch of the master's hand."

And many a man with life out of tune,
And battered and scarred with sun,
Is auctioned cheap to the thoughtless crowd,
Much like this old violin.
A "mess of pottage," a glass of wine;
A game; and he travels on.
He is "going" once, "going" twice,
He's "going" and almost "gone."
But the Master comes, and the people around
Never can quite understand
The worth of a soul and the change that's wrought
By the touch of the Master's hand.

THE MOST IMP QUESTION

During my second month of nursing school, our professor gave us a pop quiz. I was a conscientious student and had breezed through the questions, until I read the last one: "What is the first name of the woman who cleans the school?"
Surely this was some kind of joke. I had seen the cleaning woman several times. She was tall, dark-haired and in her 50s, but how would I know her name? I handed in my paper, leaving the last question blank. Before class ended, one student asked if the last question would count toward our quiz grade.
"Absolutely," said the professor. "In your careers you will meet many people. All are significant. They deserve your attention and care, even if all you do is smile and say hello".
I've never forgotten that lesson. I also learned her name was Dorothy.

EARN UR DAY

Earn your Day
· Is anybody happier because you passed his way ?...
· The day's almost over and toiling time is through,
· Is there anyone to utter now a kindly word to you?
· Does anyone remember you spoke to him today?
· Can you say tonight in parting with the day that's slipping fast,
· That you have helped a single brother of the many you passed?
· Did you waste the day or lose it?
· Was it well or sorely spent?
· Is a single heart rejoicing over what you said or did?
· Does the man whose hopes were fading, now with courage look ahead?
· Did you leave a trail of kindness or a scar of discontent?
· As you close your eyes in slumber, do you think God will say,
· You have earned one more tomorrow with the work you have done today ?

LITTLE CONVERSATIONS

Little conversations

My hands are small. Please don't expect perfection whenever I make a bed, draw a picture, or throw a ball.

My eyes have not seen the world as yours have. Please let me explore it at my own level without unnecessary restrictions.

Housework will always be there, but I will be little only for a short time. Please take time to explain about this wonderful world.

My feelings are tender. Please be sensitive to my needs. Treat me as you would like to be treated.

I am a special gift from God. Treasure me as God intended, holding me accountable for my actions, giving me guidelines to live by, and disciplining me in a loving manner.

I need your encouragement to grow, so go easy on the criticism. Try to correct my behavior without criticizing me as a person.

Please don't be afraid to leave for a weekend together. Kids need vacations from parents, just as parents need to get away occasionally. This is also a great way to show us kids that your marriage is very special.

Give me the freedom to make decisions. Permit me to fail, so I can learn from my mistakes. Then I'll be prepared to make the kind of decisions life requires of me as an adult.

Don't do jobs over that I have done. This makes me feel that my efforts don't quite measure up to your expectations. I know it's hard, but please don't compare me with my brother or sister.

VALUE OF MONEY

Value of money
A man came home from work late, tired and irritated, to find his 5-year old son waiting for him at the door.
"Daddy, may I ask you a question?"
"Yes sure, what is it?" replied the man.
"Daddy, how much do you make an hour?"
"That's none of your business. Why do you ask such a thing?"
The man said angrily.
"I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?" Pleaded the little boy.
"If you must know, I make Rs.45 an hour."

"Oh," the little boy replied, with his head down. Looking up, he said, "Daddy may I please borrow Rs.42?"

The father was furious, "If the only reason you asked that is so you can borrow some money to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense, then you march yourself straight to your room and go to bed. Think about why you are being so selfish."
"I work long hard hours everyday and don't have time for such this childish behaviour."
The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door. The man sat down and started to get even angrier about the little boy's questions.
How dare he ask such questions only to get some money?

After about an hour or so, the man had calmed down, and started to think. He may have been a little hard on his son. Maybe there was something he really needed to buy with that 42 rupees and he really didn't ask for money very often. The man went to the door of the little boy's room and opened the door.
"Are you asleep, son?" he asked.

"No daddy, I'm awake," replied the boy.

"I've been thinking, maybe I was too hard on you earlier," said the man, "it's been a long day and I took out my aggravation on you. Here's the 42 ruppees you asked for."

The little boy sat straight up, smiling. "Oh, thank you daddy!" he yelled.
Then, reaching under his pillow he reached out for some coins.

The man, seeing that the boy already had money, started to get angry again. The little boy slowly counted out his coins totalling three ruppees from it , added the 42 ruppees his father gave him, then looked up at his father.
"Why do you want more money if you already have some?" the father grumbled.

"Because I didn't have enough, but now I do," the little boy replied.
"Daddy, I have Rs 45 now. Can I buy an hour of your time? Please come home early tomorrow. I would like to have dinner together with you."
Share this story with your friends... Its just a short reminder to all of you working so hard in life. We should not let time slip through our fingers without having spent some time with those who really matter to us, those close to our hearts.

THE 2 POTS AND POTBEARERS

The two pots and the pot bearer
A water-bearer had two large pots, each hung on each end of a pole which  he carried across his neck. One of the pots had a crack in it, and  while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water at the end of the long walk from the stream to the master's house, the cracked pot arrived only half full.
For a full two years this went on daily, with the bearer delivering only one and a half pot full of water in his master's house. Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments, perfect to the end for which it was made. But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it was able to accomplish only half of what it had been made to do.
After two years of what it perceived to be a bitter failure, it spoke to the water-bearer one day by the stream.
"I am ashamed of myself, and I want to apologize to you."
"Why?" asked the bearer. "What are you ashamed of?" "I have been able, for these past two years, to deliver only half my load because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your   master's house. Because of my flaws, you have to do all of this work, and you don't get full value from your efforts," the pot said.
The water-bearer felt sorry for the old cracked pot, and in his compassion he said, "As we return to the master's house, I want you to notice the beautiful flowers along the path."
Indeed, as they went up the hill, the old cracked pot took notice of the sun warming the beautiful wild flowers on the side of the path, and this cheered it some. But at the end of the trail, it still felt bad because
it had leaked out half its load, and so again it apologized to the bearer for its failure.
The bearer said to the pot, "Did you notice that there were flowers only on your side of your path, but not on the other pot's side? That's   because I have always known about your flaw, and I took advantage of it.
I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back from the stream, you've watered them. For two years I have  been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate my master's table.
Without you being just the way you are, he would not have this beauty to grace his house."

MEMORIES

Memories
Memories
Red roses were her favourites, her name was also Rose.
And every year her husband sent them, tied pretty bows.
The year he died, the roses were delivered to her door.
The card said, "Be my Valentine", like all the years before.
Each year he sent her roses, and the note would always say,
"I love you even more this year, than last year on this day.
My love for you will always grow, with every passing year."
She knew this was the last time that the roses would appear.
She thought, he ordered roses in advance before this day.
Her loving husband did not know, that he would pass away.
He always liked to do things early, way before the time.
Then, if he got too busy, everything would work out fine.
She trimmed the stems, and placed them in a very special vase.
Then, sat the vase beside the portrait of his smiling face.
She would sit for hours, in her husband's favourite chair.
While staring at his picture, and the roses sitting there.
A year went by, and it was hard to live without her mate.
With loneliness and solitude, that had become her fate.
Then, the very hour, as on Valentines before,
The doorbell rang, and there were roses, sitting by her door.
She brought the roses in, and then just looked at them in shock.
Then, went to get the telephone, to call the florist shop.
The owner answered, and she asked him, if he would explain,
Why would someone do this to her, causing her such pain?
"I know your husband passed away, more than a year ago,"
The owner said, "I knew you'd call, and you would want to know.
The flowers you received today, were paid for in advance.
Your husband always planned ahead, he left nothing to chance.
There is a standing order, that I have on file down here,
And he has paid, well in advance, you'll get them every year.
There also is another thing, that I think you should know,
He wrote a special little card...he did this years ago.
Then, should ever I find out that he's no longer here,
That's the card...that should be sent, to you the following year."
She thanked him and hung up the phone, her tears now flowing hard.
Her fingers shaking, as she slowly reached to get the card.
Inside the card, she saw that he had written her a note.
Then, as she stared in total silence, this is what he wrote...
"Hello my love, I know it's been a year since I've been gone,
I hope it hasn't been too hard for you to overcome.
I know it must be lonely, and the pain is very real.
For if it was the other way, I know how I would feel.
The love we shared made everything so beautiful in life.
I loved you more than words can say, you were the perfect wife.
You were my friend and lover, you fulfilled my every need.
I know it's only been a year, but please try not to grieve.
I want you to be happy, even when you shed your tears.
That is why the roses will be sent to you for years.
When you get these roses, think of all the happiness,
That we had together, and how both of us were blessed.
I have always loved you and I know I always will.
But, my love, you must go on, you have some living still.
Please...try to find happiness, while living out your days.
I know it is not easy, but I hope you find some ways.
The roses will come every year, and they will only stop,
When your door's not answered, when the florist stops to knock.
He will come five times that day, in case you have gone out.
But after his last visit, he will know without a doubt,
To take the roses to the place, where I've instructed him,
And place the roses where we are, together once again.

Sometimes in life, you find a special friend;
Someone who changes your life just by being part of it.
Someone who makes you laugh until you can't stop;
Someone who makes you believe that there really is good in the world.
Someone who convinces you that there really is an unlocked door just waiting for you to open

THE JAPANESE WIN AGAIN

The Japanese Win again

The Americans and the Japanese decided to engage in a competitive boat race. Both teams practiced hard and long to reach their peak performance. On the big day, they felt ready.
The Japanese won by a mile.
The American team was discouraged by the loss. Morale sagged. The sports department decided that the reason for the crushing defeat had to be found, so a sporting consulting firm was hired to investigate the problem and recommend corrective action. The consultant's finding: The Japanese team had eight people rowing and one person steering; the American team had one person rowing and eight people steering. After a year of study, and millions spent analysing, the problem, the sporting consulting firm concluded that too many people were steering and not enough were rowing on the American team.
So as race day neared again the following year, the American team was completely revamped. The new design : four supervision coordinators, three area steering supervisors, and a new rowing performance review system for the person rowing the boat.
The next year, the Japanese won by TWO miles!!! Humiliated, the American sports department laid off the rower for poor performance and gave the supervisors a bonus for discovering the problem.

THE STORY OF LOVE

The story of Love

Once upon a time there was an island
where all the feelings lived;
happiness,
sadness,
knowledge,
and all the others,
including love.

One day it was announced to all of the feelings
that the island was going to sink
to the bottom of the ocean.
So all the feelings prepared
their boats to leave.

Love was the only one that stayed.
She wanted to preserve the island paradise
until the last possible moment.

When the island was almost totally under
love decided it was time to leave.
She began looking for someone to ask for help.
Just then Richness was passing by in a grand boat.
Love asked,
"Richness, Can I come with you on your boat?"
 Richness answered,
" I'm sorry, but there is a lot of silver and gold on my boat
and there would be no room for you anywhere."

Then Love decided to ask Vanity for help
who was passing in a beautiful vessel.
Love cried out,
"Vanity, help me please."
"I can't help you", Vanity said,
"You are all wet and will damage my beautiful boat."

Next, Love saw Sadness passing by.
Love said, " Sadness, please let me go with you."
Sadness answered,
"Love, I'm sorry, but, I just need to be alone now."

Then, Love saw Happiness.
Love cried out,
" Happiness, please take me with you."
But Happiness was so overjoyed
that he didn't hear Love calling to him.

Love began to cry.
Then, she heard a voice say,
"Come Love, I will take you with me."
It was an elder.
Love felt so blessed and overjoyed
that she forgot to ask the elder his name.
When they arrived on land
the elder went on his way.
Love realized how much
she owed the elder.

Love then found Knowledge and asked,
"Who was it that helped me?"
"It was Time", Knowledge answered.
"But why did Time help me when no one else would?",
Love asked.

Knowledge smiled
and with deep wisdom and sincerity, answered,
"Because only Time is capable of  understanding
 how great Love is."

LOVE

Love

John Blanchard stood up from the bench, straightened his Army  uniform, and studied the crowd of people making their way through  Grand  Central Station.    He looked for the girl whose heart he knew, but  whose face  he didn't, the girl with the rose. His interest in her had begun  thirteen months before in a Florida library.  Taking a book off the  shelf he  found himself intrigued, not with the words of the book, but with the  notes penciled in the margin. The soft handwriting reflected a  thoughtful soul and insightful mind.   In the front of the book, he discovered the previous owner's name,  Miss Hollis Maynell. With time and effort he located her address. She  lived in New York City.  He wrote her a letter introducing himself and  inviting her to correspond.  The next day he was shipped overseas for  service in World War II.

During the next year and one-month the two grew to know each other  through the mail.    Each letter was a seed falling on a fertile heart.  A romance was budding. Blanchard requested a photograph, but she  refused.   She felt that if he really cared, it wouldn't matter what she looked  like.   When the day finally came for him to return from Europe, they  scheduled their first meeting - 7:00 PM at the Grand Central Station  in New  York.  "You'll recognize me," she wrote, "by the red rose I'll be wearing on  my lapel."   So at 7:00 he was in the station looking for a girl whose    heart he loved, but whose face he'd never seen.

I'll let Mr. Blanchard tell you what happened: A young woman was  coming toward me, her figure  long and slim.  Her blonde hair lay back  in    curls from her delicate ears; her eyes were blue as flowers.  Her lips    and chin  had a gentle firmness, and in her pale green suit she was like    springtime come  alive.  I started toward her, entirely forgetting to notice that she  was not  wearing a rose.  As I moved, a small, provocative smile curved her  lips.  "Going  my way, sailor?" she murmured.

Almost uncontrollably I made one step closer to her, and then I saw  Hollis    Maynell.  She was standing almost directly behind the girl.  A woman   well past  40, she had graying hair tucked under a worn hat.   She was more than  plump, her  thick-ankled feet thrust into low-heeled shoes.  The girl in the green  suit was  walking quickly away.  I felt as though I was split in two, so keen  was my  desire to follow her, and yet so deep was my longing for the woman  whose spirit  had truly companioned me and upheld my own.

And there she stood.  Her pale, plump face was gentle and sensible,  her gray  eyes had a warm and kindly twinkle.  I did not hesitate.  My fingers    gripped the  small worn blue leather copy of the book that was to identify me to  her.  This  would not be love, but it would be something precious, something  perhaps even  better than love, a friendship for which I had been and must ever be  grateful.  I squared my shoulders and saluted and held out the book to the woman,  even  though while I spoke I felt choked by the bitterness of my  disappointment.  "I'm  Lieutenant John Blanchard, and you must be Miss Maynell.  I am so glad  you could  meet me; may I take you to dinner?"  The woman's face broadened into a tolerant smile.  "I don't know what  this is  about, son," she answered, "but the young lady in the green suit who  just went  by, she begged me to wear this rose on my coat.   And she said if you  were to ask  me out to dinner, I should go and tell you that she is waiting for you  in the  big restaurant across the street. She said it was some kind of test!"
It's not  difficult to understand and admire Miss Maynell's wisdom. The true nature of a  heart is seen in its response to the unattractive.

LOVE CONQUERS ALL

Love conquers all

Like any good mother, when Karen found out that another baby was
on the way, she did what she could to help her 3-year-old son,Michael,
prepare for a new sibling. They found out that the new baby was going
to be a girl, and day after day, night after night, Michael sang to
his sister in Mommy's tummy. He was building a bond of love with his
little sister before he even met her.

The pregnancy progressed normally for Karen. In time, the labor pains came. Soon it was every five minutes, every three....every minute. But serious complications arose during delivery and Karen found herself in hours of labor. Would a C-section be required?

Finally, after a long struggle, Michael's little sister was born. But
she was in very serious condition. With a siren howling in the night,
the ambulance rushed the infant to the neonatal intensive care unit at
St. Mary's Hospital, Knoxville, Tennessee. The days inched by.

The little girl got worse. The pediatrician had to tell the parents,
"There is very little hope. Be prepared for the worst." Karen and her
husband contacted a local cemetery about a burial plot. They had fixed
up a special room in their house for their new baby but now they found
themselves having to plan for a funeral.

Michael, however, kept begging his parents to let him see his sister.
"I want to sing to her," he kept saying. Week two in intensive care
looked as if a funeral would come before the week was over.

Michael kept nagging about singing to his sister, but kids are never
allowed in Intensive Care.

Karen made up her mind, though. She would take Michael whether they
liked it or not! If he didn't see his sister right then, he may never
see her alive. She dressed him in an oversized scrub suit and marched
him into ICU. He looked like a walking laundry basket. But the head
nurse recognized him as a child and bellowed, "Get that kid out of
here now! No children are allowed.

The mother rose up strong in Karen, and the usually mild-mannered lady
glared steel-eyed right into the head nurse's face, her lips a firm
line. "He is not leaving until he sings to his sister!"

Karen towed Michael to his sister's bedside. He gazed at the tiny
infant losing the battle to live. After a moment, he began to sing.

In the pure-hearted voice of a 3-year-old, Michael sang: "You are my
sunshine, my only sunshine, you make me happy when skies are gray---"

Instantly the baby girl seemed to respond. The pulse rate began to
calm down and become steady. "Keep on singing, Michael," encouraged
Karen with tears in her eyes.

"You never know, dear, how much I love you, Please don't take my
sunshine away-" As Michael sang to his sister, the baby's ragged,
strained breathing became as smooth as a kitten's purr. "Keep on
singing, sweetheart!!!" "The other night, dear, as I lay sleeping, I
dreamed I held you in my arms..."

Michael's little sister began to relax as rest, healing rest, seemed to
sweep over her. "Keep on singing, Michael."

Tears had now conquered the face of the bossy head nurse. Karen
glowed. "You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. Please don't, take my
sunshine away..."

The next, day...the very next day...the little girl was well enough to
go home! Woman's Day Magazine called it "The Miracle of a Brother's
Song." The medical staff just called it a miracle. Karen called it a
miracle of God's love!

NEVER GIVE UP ON THE PEOPLE YOU LOVE.
LOVE IS SO INCREDIBLY POWERFUL.

TO SAVE OR NOT TO SAVE

To Save Or Not To Save
That Is The Question

Is your work environment user-friendly? For those of you who aren’t computer-oriented, "user-friendly" is a term that means a computer user can get around and learn a program easily because it has been written in such a way as to make it simple for the user to do what they set out to do.
When I walk into an area with paper and files cluttering the space, I get a sense that the area is somewhat "unfriendly" to the occupant because, obviously, the person couldn’t possibly get around easily with that mess. In that regard, how could they accomplish all the things they want to accomplish?
Another way I look at clutter is that it’s kind of like having people hanging around your space silently yelling at you all day! Because, the way I see it, those loose pieces of paper are screaming to be dealt with!
Now, the rational thing to do with a bunch of people hanging around distracting you and clamoring for attention is to first decide who stays and who goes, then handle the ones that stay so they can get out of your face and go home.
Paper and files need a home. So, in starting to deal with clutter, begin by gathering all paper into one or two piles for sorting. This only takes a minute or two and is quite fun, once you confront getting the homeless off the streets-I mean, off the work beat.
Next, make a decision about each piece of paper: 1) Decide if you want to do something with it; 2) If you want to keep it; or 3) If you don’t need it.
If you don’t need it, throw it away. However, if you want to do something with it, assign a folder an "Action" file, note the task on a Master To-Do List, and place the paper inside the folder. Project files are also a type of Action file and any related project material should be put in its designated folder. If you are keeping the paper, decide on a folder name, label it, and put the paper away.
Of course, the major decision-making dilemma in this sorting process is often establishing whether or not you really need it. There are a couple questions to ask yourself that make this decision-making an easier task.
First, ask yourself how the information could or would benefit you by keeping it. If it serves a purpose, file it. If not, get rid of it.
Secondly, ask yourself if you really intend to act upon this information. If so, establish where it will go (as discussed earlier). If not, get rid of it.
Remember, keep it simple!

FROM GOD

From God
As you got up this morning, I watched you and hoped you would talk to Me, even if it was just a few words, asking my opinion or thanking me for something good that happened in your life yesterday. But I noticed you were too busy trying to find the right outfit to put on and wear to work. I waited again.
When you ran around the house getting ready I know there would be a few minutes for you to stop and say hello, but you were too busy. At one point you had to wait fifteen minutes with nothing to do except sit in a chair. Then I saw you spring to your feet. I thought you wanted to talk to me but ran to the phone and called a friend to get the latest gossip.
I watched you as you went to work and waited patiently all day long. With all your activities I guess you were too busy to say anything to me. I noticed that before lunch you looked around, may be you felt embarrased to talk to me. You noticed some of your friends talking to me briefly before they ate, but you didn’t. That’s O.K. There is still more time left and I have hope that you will talk to me, yet you went home and it seemed as if you had lots of things to do. After a few of them were done you turned on the T.V., just about anything goes there and you spend a lot of time each day in front of it, not thinking about anything – just enjoying the show.
I waited patiently again as you watched T.V and ate your meal. After you said good night to your family you plopped into bed and fell asleep in no time. That’s O.K. because you may not realise that I am always there for you. I have got patience more than you will ever know. I even want to teach you how to be patient with others as well.
I love you so much that I wait every day for a nod, prayer or thought or a thankful part of your heart. It is hard to have a one-sided conversation. Well you are getting up again and once again I will wait with nothing but love for you hoping that atleast today you will give me some time. Have a nice day !
 YOUR FRIEND GOD

THE STORY OF 4 WIVES

There was a rich merchant who had 4 wives.
He loved the 4th wife the most.
He adorned her with rich robes and treated her to delicacies.
He took great care of her and gave her nothing but the best.
He also loved the 3rd wife very much.
He's very proud of her and always wanted to show her off to his friends.
However, the merchant is always in great fear that she might run away with some other men.
He loved his 2nd wife too.
She is a very considerate person, always patient and in fact is the merchant's confidante.
Whenever the merchant faced some problems,he always turned to his 2nd wife and she would always help him out and tide him through difficult times.
Now, the merchant's 1st wife is a very loyal partner and has made great contributions in maintaining his wealth and business as well as taking care of the household.
However, the merchant did not love the first wife and although she loved him deeply, he hardly took notice of her.
One day,the merchant fell ill.
Before long,he knew that he was going to die soon.
He thought of his luxurious life and told himself, "Now I have 4 wives with me. But when I die, I'll be alone. How lonely I'll be!"
Thus, he asked the 4th wife, "I loved you most, endowed you with the finest clothing and showered great care over you. Now that I'm dying, will you follow me and keep me company?"
"No way!" replied the 4th wife and she walked away without another word.
The answer cut like a sharp knife right into the merchant's heart.
The sad merchant then asked the 3rd wife,
"I have loved you so much for all my life. Now that I'm dying, will you follow me and keep me company?"
"No!" replied the 3rd wife.
"Life is so good over here! I'm going to remarry when you die!"
The merchant's heart sank and turned cold.
He then asked the 2nd wife,
"I always turned to you for help and you've always helped me out. Now I need your help again. When I die, will you follow me and keep me company?"
"I'm sorry, I can't help you out this time!"replied the 2nd wife.
"At the very most, I can only send you to your grave."
The answer came like a bolt of thunder and the merchant was devastated.
Then a voice called out : "I'll leave with you.I'll follow you no matter where you go."
The merchant looked up and there was his first wife.
She was so skinny, almost like she suffered from malnutrition.
Greatly grieved, the merchant said,
"I should have taken much better care of you while I could have!"
Actually we all have 4 wives in our lives,..
The 4th wife is our body.
No matter how much time and effort we lavish in making it look good, it'll leave us when we die.
Our 3rd wife? Our possessions, status and wealth.
When we die, they all go to others.
The 2nd wife is our family and friends.
No matter how close they had been there for us when we're alive, the furthest they can stay by us is up to the grave.
The 1st wife is in fact our soul.
Often neglected in our pursuit of material wealth and sensual pleasure.
It is actually the only thing that follows us wherever we go.
Perhaps it's a good idea to cultivate and strengthen it now rather than
to wait until we're on our deathbed to lament.

TWO MONKS

Two monks on a pilgrimage came to the ford of a river. There they saw a girl dressed in all her finery, obviously not knowing what to do since the river was high and she did not want to spoil her clothes. Without more ado, one of the monks took her on his back, carried her across and put her down on dry ground on the other side.
Then the monks continued on their way. But the other monk after an hour started complaining, "Surely it is not right to touch a woman; it is against the commandments to have close contact with women. How could you go against the rules for monks?"
The monk who had carried the girl walked along silently, but finally he remarked, "I set her down by the river an hour ago, why are you still carrying her?"
The Jar of Life

One day, an management expert was speaking to a group of business students and, to drive home a point, used an illustration those students will never forget.
As he stood in front of the group of high-powered overachievers he said,
"Okay, time for a quiz" and he pulled out a 5 liter, wide-mouth mason jar and set it on the table in front of him. He also produced about a dozen fist-sized rocks and carefully placed them, one at a time, into the jar.
When the jar was filled to the top and no more rocks would fit inside, he asked, "Is this jar full?" Everyone in the class yelled, "Yes."
The time management expert replied, "Really?" He reached under the table and pulled out a bucket of gravel. He dumped some gravel in and shook the jar causing pieces of gravel to work themselves down into the spaces between the big rocks. He then asked the group once more, "Is the jar full?"
By this time the class was on to him. "Probably not," one of them answered.
"Good!" he replied. He reached under the table and brought out a bucket of sand. He started dumping the sand in the jar and it went into all of the spaces left between the rocks and the gravel. Once more he asked the question, "Is this jar full?" "No!" the class shouted.
Once again he said, "Good." Then he grabbed a pitcher of water and began to pour it in until the jar was filled to the brim. Then he looked at the class and asked, "What is the point of this illustration?"
One eager beaver raised his hand and said, "The point is, no matter how full your schedule is, if you try really hard you can always fit some more things in it!"
"No," the speaker replied, "that's not the point. The truth this illustration teaches us is: If you don't put the big rocks in first, you'll never get them in at all."
What are the 'big rocks' in your life, time with your loved ones, your faith, your education, your dreams, a worthy cause, teaching or mentoring others? Remember to put these big rocks in first or you'll never get them in at all. So, tonight, or in the morning, when you are reflecting on this short story, ask yourself this question: What are the 'big rocks' in my life? Then, put those in your jar first.

PANTIES & GLOVES - HILARIOUS

PANTIES & GLOVES - HILARIOUS
A young man wished to buy a pair of gloves for his sweetheart's birthday, so he went to an expensive clothier, bought the finest gloves available and asked the saleswoman to have them delivered with a note.

While wrapping the gloves, the clerk accidentally mixed up the order and sent a pair of panties instead.
Here is the note the young man sent to his sweetheart:

Darling,

I chose these, because I noticed that you are not in the habit of wearing any when we go out in the evening. I would have chosen long ones with buttons, but because your sister wears the short ones that are so easy to remove, I decided to get the same style for you.
Although these are a delicate shade, the lady I bought them from showed me a pair she had been wearing for three weeks and they were hardly soiled. I had the sales girl try them on for me and they looked really smart.
I wish I could be there to put them on for you for the first time. No doubt many other hands will touch them before I see you again. When you take them off, remember to blow in them before putting them away as they will naturally be A little damp from wearing. Be sure to keep them on while cleaning them so they don't shrink. Just think how many times I will kiss them during the coming year. I hope you like them and will wear them for me on Friday night.

All my Love.

The latest style is to wear them folded down with a little fur showing.
